DEMOCRACY COMMISSION SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM
Call For Proposals: Earth Day 2010, Kyiv

The Grant’s Office of the U.S. Embassy is soliciting proposals from Ukrainian national NGO’s for a public information and action campaign to start in April of this year in Kyiv in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of the celebration of Earth Day, April 22, 2010. The campaign should focus on a number of different civic actions which would allow citizens to participate to protect the environment. Part of the program should include an Earth Day celebrations – for example, a clean-up campaign and outdoor music “festival” with public information and participation at a prominent location in Kyiv held on Saturday, April 24.

All proposals must be received by March 15.

TEACHING EXCELLENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM (TEA) 2010

The Government of the United States of America is pleased to announce the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) 2010. TEA is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and implemented by IREX, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization.

TEA will provide 154 secondary school teachers from Europe and Eurasia, East Asia and the Pacific, the Near East, South and Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Western Hemisphere with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the 2010 Alumni Grants Program

The program is intended to provide financial support to US Government-funded exchange and training programs alumni to implement projects that promote democratic advancement and economic reform in Ukraine.

Alumni and recipients of all US Government-funded exchange and training programs, including ECA, USAID, USDA and FEP, Department of Commerce SABIT trainings, as well as other target groups with an alumni connection are eligible to apply.

Applications will be accepted from February 1, 2010 until March 14, 2010 and will be reviewed by an Embassy selection committee.

Legislative Fellow Program

Legislative Fellow Program (LFP) is the US Department of State funded program, coordinated by National Conference of State Legislatures and American Councils for International Education which is the official administrator of LFP in Ukraine.

Young Ukrainian professionals (age 25-35) will have a firsthand opportunity to learn the US legislative system, federalism, and its basics, checks and balances system, civic society role in building a strong democracy.

Professional 4 weeks fellowship will take place at the US state legislatures. LFP is primarily focused on professionals working at state and local government, with the BA and MA degrees in international law, political science, international relations and state administration. Fluency in English is required.
